My Home

— Inking Souls

I long to be a child again,
to dream of neat little houses,
a seat beside the fireplace,
watching soft rain
drizzle down the windowpane.

A rocking chair in the living room,
and a naïve painting of a flower vase
hanging quietly on the wall.

The scent of cinnamon and cardamom
rising, filling the house and heart.

A quiet cat for company,
lazy mornings, surreal evenings.

Oh my, what a home!
What a blessing.
